SC MULTIMODE 1M OM4 LSZH TIGHT BUFFER SPECIFICATIONS AND DETAILS
Overview
Tight buffered cables are perfect for indoor use and medium length LAN/WAN connections as they are the sturdier option. Another advantage to tight buffered cables is that they are much easier to install as there is no gel to clean up afterwards and they do not require a fan out-kit for splicing or termination as you can crimp connectors directly to each fibre.
Multimode fiber (MMF) is a kind of optical fiber mostly used in communication over short distances, for example, inside a building or for the campus. Multimode fiber optic cable has a larger core, typically 50 or 62.5 microns that enables multiple light modes to be propagated. Because of this, more data can pass through the multimode fiber core at a given time. The maximum transmission distance for MMF cable is around 550m at the speed of 10Git/s. It can transmit farther at lower data rates, such as going about 2km at 100Mb/s.
The quality of fiber pigtail is typically high because the connectorized end is attached in the factory, making it more accurately than a field-terminated cables. It can be attached to optical fibers by fusion or mechanical splicing. Given the access to a fusion splicer, you can splice the pigtail right onto the cable in a minute or less, which greatly speeds the splicing and saves significant time and cost spent on field termination.
While for mechanical fiber optic pigtail splicing, it precisely holds a fiber optic pigtail and fiber patch cord together, the joint could be temporary or permanent, enabling light to pass from one fiber to the other.
